Milford Firefighters Quickly Extinguish Jepson Drive Blaze

The fire originated in a dwelling that is part of a 6-unit public housing building.

The Milford Fire Department quickly extinguished a blaze at 71 Jepson Drive Monday afternoon, a top fire official said.

Fire Capt. Gregory Carman said at 1 p.m.the Fire Department received 911 calls reporting smoke coming from a second floor window at 71 Jepson Drive.

Arriving fire crews quickly deployed a fire attack line to the second floor of this 6-unit public housing building.

The fire was found in a rear bedroom and immediately extinguished, Carman said.

The unit occupants were away at the time of the fire and the other occupants of the building had evacuated upon hearing the fire alarm.

There was extensive damage to the bedroom and smoke and heat damage to the rest of the unit, Carman said.

Some of the other units of the building also sustained some minor smoke damage.

There were no injuries reported to any of the occupants of the building or to the firefighters and the last Fire Department unit had cleared the scene by 3:00pm. The Milford Fire Marshal’s office is investigating for the cause, Carman said.
