Milford Man Charged After Multi-Hour Standoff: PD
A Milford man was criminally charged after he threatened to kill officers April 16, police said.

MILFORD, CT — A man has been criminally charged after he attempted to assault an officer and barricaded himself in his residence for several hours on April 16, according to police.
John Katrick, 52, was charged April 29 with attempted assault on a police officer, interfering with police, reckless burning and threatening. He was held in lieu of $30,000 bail.
Officers went to Katrick's residence on Home Acres Avenue around 4:20 a.m. on April 16 to investigate a noise complaint. Katrick was playing music loudly in his driveway. He turned it off when officers arrived and was issued an infraction for creating a disturbance, police said.

Officers went to Katrick's home again around 8 a.m. to investigate a burning complaint. They found Katrick was burning car tires in his backyard. He threatened to kill officers if they trespassed on his property and retreated into his residence, police said.
Police heard what sounded like a gunshot from within the residence around 8 p.m. and attempted to investigate with a drone within the residence, but were unsuccessful. Katrick exited the residence around 11 p.m. and was brought to St. Raphael's hospital for evaluation.

A facsimile firearm was found in Katrick's residence, police said.
