Milford Man Pleads Guilty To Threatening U.S. Marshal: Prosecutors
A man pleaded guilty to charges that he threatened to harm and kill a deputy U.S. marshal and harm his family last year, prosecutors said.
MILFORD, CT — A Milford man pleaded guilty Monday to threatening a federal law enforcement officer, according to prosecutors.
Hamilton Clark Smith, 59, pleaded guilty to making repeated harassing communications, a crime that carries a maximum prison term of two years.
Prosecutors said Smith sent a series of threatening text messages Jan. 10 and 11, 2023, to a deputy U.S. marshal, including threats to harm and kill the deputy U.S. marshal and to harm the deputy U.S. marshal’s family.

Smith also called the U.S. Marshals Service Communications Center in Virginia and threatened to kill the deputy U.S. marshal, according to prosecutors.
Smith was arrested Jan. 12, 2023. He is scheduled to be sentenced July 16.

Smith was released on a $100,000 bond pending sentencing.
