Milford Mayor Says Thanks But No Thanks To Proposal
A local resident's dream to turn an existing city venue into a 'Ridgefield Playhouse' of sorts was denied.

MILFORD, CT — For the past few years, Steve Cooper, who is the founder of the Milford Performance Center, has held major productions inside of the Veterans Memorial Auditorium at the Parsons Government Center in downtown Milford.
Cooper told the Milford Mirror that he was rebuffed in his attempts to gain more control of the auditorium, which is owned by the city and he wanted to turn it into a "Ridgefield Playhouse" of sorts.
But that venue is used by numerous city groups including the Milford Public Schools, Mayor Ben Blake told the Milford Mirror, while adding it wouldn't make sense to turn over control of the space to just one person.

Cooper said if he was able to gain control over the venue he'd work to secure grants to upgrade it.
