Milford Organization Receives $3 Million For Mental Health Grant

The grant will go toward a Bridges Healthcare program designed to increase mental health treatments in local schools.

MILFORD, CT — U.S. Rep. Rosa DeLauro and Assistant Secretary Miriam Delphin-Rittmon of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration held a roundtable discussion in Milford last week highlighting a five-year, $600,000 annual grant awarded to Bridges Healthcare.

The $3 million grant is designed to expand the organization's Support Our Students initiative, which seeks to expand access to mental health treatments available in local schools for young people.

Bridges Healthcare's Support Our Students initiative will "establish school-based mental health services in five local schools which include large Hispanic/Latino, foreign-born, LGBTQ, and other populations at high risk of trauma and resulting emotional and conduct issues," according to a statement.
