Milford Pee Wee Cheerleaders Achieve Five-Star Season with National Title Win in Disney

Milford’s Pop Warner Pee Wee cheerleaders accomplished the lofty goal they set for themselves before their season even began. With two state-level titles, a spirit award and one regional win against multiple talented New England teams, the girls travelled to DisneyWorld in early December to compete against other elite teams from across the U.S. at the annual National Cheer and Dance Championship. A victory at the national level seemed to be this team’s destiny as their competition cheer, written months in advance of the big event, had them shouting, “We’re Milford Pee Wee Cheer, and we’re back for a reason. We want nothing less than a five-star season.” A complex and challenging routine performed with perfect precision won Milford its national title and fifth award in 2015.

The team received a formal proclamation from Milford mayor, Ben Blake, at City Hall on Monday, February 1, noting an expression of pride and appreciation for the fine manner in which this program represented the community.

Head coach, Lauren Janik; assistant coaches, Karen Schumann, Chelsey Festa, Deb Goncalves, Brenda Dodd, Miranda Goncalves and Christina Mazzeo; junior coaches, Gayle Portoff and Michelle Brunson, led the team of 27 girls to their ultimate victory at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex on December 9.

Milford’s national cheerleading title winners include: Abigail Jordan, Amelia Mariani, Anna Paul, Charlotte Mackell, Elizabeth Schumann, Gabriella Mavuli, Giuliana Aguilar, Hailey Boyle, Hallie Montes, Isabella Speringo, Jaela Johnson, Jonna Lord, Kari Boyle, Kendall Crosdale, Kiyara Miles, Leiane Montes, Luciana Cappello, Makalei Bliss, Mallory Janik, Megan McTigue, Nicolina Salanto, Nina Torgerson, Reese Jasminski, Rylie Bryant, Rylie Keller, Samantha Lavallee and Shannon Kiley.
