MILFORD, CT — The Planning and Zoning Board has approved a special exception to allow Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers to build a 3,400-square-foot restaurant, according to Hearst Connecticut Media.

The approval paves the way for the popular fried chicken chain to move into the former Milford Bank at 1455 Boston Post Road.

This comes after Raising Canes' revised parking proposal was approved in June. The parking plans had previously been rejected in February.

A traffic expert for the company said the new restaurant will not have any significant impact on traffic in the area, Hearst Connecticut Media reported. The Police Commission also signed off on the plans.

The Milford store will mark either the third or fourth Raising Cane's location in the state. Two locations opened this year in Wethersfield and Simsbury and another is planned for Wethersfield.

Raising Cane's was founded in Baton Rouge, Louisiana in 1996 and specializes in "hand batter premium chicken that's marinated for 24 hours," according to its website. The restaurant only serves its famous chicken fingers along with sides like crinkle-cut fries, coleslaw, and Texas toast.
