Milford Police Officers Honored For Defusing Serious Incident
Several police officers were honored for their quick work that defused a difficult situation.

MILFORD, CT — Milford Police officers are being credited with defusing a potentially serious incident that began at Boys & Girls Village this spring.
According to recent Board of Police Commissioner meeting minutes, "Deputy Chief Rahn shared the following with the Commissioners – on 4/10/18 a call was received from Boys & Girls Village regarding male who threatened harm to individuals. The male had then left the facility and felt to be a danger to the neighborhood.
The male was subsequently located in a wooded area and threatened officers who were trying to talk with him in a calming way. Eventually Pfc. Matthew Mello struck up accord with the male, getting him to put down the large rocks he was threatening the officers with. The male was calmly transported to a medical evaluation facility. Based on their ability to secure the area and to keep the residents safe while deescalating a serious situation the following officers are to be commended:
