Milford Republican Announces Mayoral Candidacy

MILFORD, CT — Long-time GOP Alderman Dan German announced he is running for the position of Mayor on Saturday. On social media, German made his announcement in a concise and to the point message.

"it's a great day to announce that I am running for Mayor of Milford Ct!!," German wrote.

German will likely take on Mayor Ben Blake, a Democrat, who ran unopposed last time. Blake hasn't announced whether he'll seek re-election but it's widely expected that he will.

In just one hour, more than 100 comments have been posted under German's announcement as folks wished him well. German works in finance and insurance. It's believed German is the first Republican to announce plans to run for mayor.
