Milford Schools Budget Proposal: Here's What You Need To Know
Milford Superintendent of Schools Elizabeth Feser recently unveiled her budget proposal for 2018-19.

MILFORD, CT — Another year, another bare bones budget request by Superintendent of Schools Elizabeth Feser. Feser is seeking a $93.23 million budget for fiscal 2018-19, which if approved by the Board of Education, Finance Board and Board of Aldermen, would increase spending by 1.39 percent or $1.28 million, the Milford Mirror reports.
Most of the increase is attributable to contractual obligations and raises for staff members.
Some of the new requests include: one language teacher, which allows French and Spanish to be offered to sixth-graders, a new civic and global engagement pathway at the high schools, and a new science and social studies curriculum.

Feser also hopes to add a new school resource officer position. Some of the additions would be offset by cuts to staff including three teaching positions saving $180,000 the Mirror reports. No teachers would be laid off.
The final schools budget isn't approved until sometime in May.
