Milford's Own Miss Connecticut 2006 is the New Traffic Reporter at NBC Connecticut

Heidi Voight beat out former Miss USA Erin Brady for the position.

Former Miss Connecticut and Milford native Heidi Voight is the new traffic reporter at NBC Connecticut, the Hartford Courant reports.

Voight, 32, will be joining the weekday morning news team on “NBC Connecticut Today” as a morning traffic and general assignment reporter.

Since she was crowned Miss Connecticut in 2006, Voight has worked as a flight attendant at Eos Airlines and considered running as the Democratic candidate for the House of Representatives representing the 118th District in 2008, according to the New Haven Register.

Voight, who formerly worked at NBC affiliate WWLP in Springfield Massachusetts, was temporarily filling the spot along with 2013 Miss USA Erin Brady till a permanent candidate was chosen, the Courant reports.

According to Voight’s bio, she has covered tropical storm Irene and was one of the first reporters on the scene after the EF3 tornado in Springfield, Mass. in 2011.

Voight told the paper she was “beyond thrilled” to have landed the gig. “NBC Connecticut Today” airs from 4:30 to 7 a.m.
