More Details On Milford Mall's Plans For Luxury Apartments

Mall officials say they have concluded that luxury apartments are their best chance for economic success.

MILFORD, CT — Last week the New Haven Register reported that the owners of the Connecticut Post Mall, Centennial, 1201 Boston Post Road, want to build 300 upscale apartments on a portion of their massive mall property.

And the reaction to those plans has been swift as city leaders oppose the plans and are pushing for office or medical space instead.

The Register shared some new details about the proposal.

Some highlights include: up to $70 million will be spent on the proposed four-story luxury apartment complex by the Sears Auto Body Center, which includes a fitness center and pool; 372 new jobs and another 117 in the second year; $35 million in wages and an added $1.23 million in direct economic impacts for Milford, the Register reports.

The project will be discussed at the Planning and Zoning Board meeting in September. While Milford officials may oppose the apartment plans, mall officials have said it is their No. 1 choice for economic vitality moving forward.
