Murder Suspect Arrested In Milford In Connection With Homicide In Meriden: Police
A man was held in lieu of a $2 million bond after being charged with murder in connection with a fatal shooting in Meriden, police said.
MERIDEN, CT — Two people were arrested Saturday in Milford in connection with a homicide in Meriden earlier this week, according to police.
Police responded around 12 noon on Jan. 19 to the area of Cook Avenue and Summer Street in Meriden on the report of a person who had been shot.
Arriving officers found a 22-year-old man, Deron Johnson, suffering from at least one gunshot wound, according to police. Officers immediately initiated life-saving measures, and police said Johnson was later pronounced dead at Mid-State Medical Center.

The Meriden Police Department launched an “intensive investigation into Johnson’s murder,” according to Sgt. Michael Boothroyd.
After following up on multiple leads, Boothroyd said both Aren Scott and Dovone Still were taken into custody in Milford on Saturday in connection with the homicide.

“They were both taken into custody with the assistance of the Milford Police Department, without incident,” Boothroyd wrote in a news release. “Johnson’s immediate family has been notified of the arrests. The Meriden Police Department again extends its sincerest condolences to Deron Johnson’s family and loved ones.
“This investigation was brought to a quick resolution with the assistance of the New Haven State’s Attorney office, Milford Police Department and the Hartford Police Department.”

Scott, 28, was charged with murder. He was held in lieu of a $2 million bond, according to Boothroyd.
Still, 21, was charged with hindering prosecution. She was held in lieu of a $10,000 bond.
