Victim ID’d In Fatal Shooting In Meriden: Police
A 22-year-old man was killed in the shooting, according to police.
MERIDEN, CT — The victim of Monday’s fatal shooting in Meriden has been identified as 22-year-old Deron Johnson, police said in an update on Tuesday.
Police responded around 12 noon on Jan. 19 to the area of Cook Avenue and Summer Street on the report of a person who had been shot, according to Lt. Darrin McKay.
McKay said arriving officers found a 22-year-old man suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Officers immediately initiated life-saving measures, according to McKay.

Johnson was treated at the scene by Hunter’s Ambulance and Meriden Fire Department personnel and taken to MidState Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead, according to McKay.
“Johnson’s immediate family has been notified,” McKay wrote in a news release. “The Meriden Police Department extends its sincerest condolences to Deron Johnson’s family and loved ones.

“The Meriden Police Department Detective Division has taken over the investigation and is following up on all available leads. Currently, investigators do not believe there is any ongoing threat to the public.”
