Never Say Never: Eli's Tavern Likely to Receive Approval for Outdoor Patio: Report

In 2015 Eli's Tavern officials and representatives blasted city leaders for not approving the outdoor patio request.

MILFORD, CT — Apparently things can change significantly in a year.

Eli’s Tavern at 21 Daniel Street is closing in on securing city approval for a lease to create an outdoor patio area, which is something the city rejected about one year ago.

The revised proposal calls for a 10-foot by 51-foot concrete patio with fencing for outdoor dining, the Milford Mirror reports. Some of the conditions include: no outdoor live music, no smoking and the area would be closed at 10 p.m.

The lease would run for five years and the city can terminate it if it chooses to sell the land or Eli's doesn't fulfill certain requirements. The project already received Planning and Zoning approval and is expected to be voted on by the Board of Aldermen in November.

Neighbors also support the lease agreement, the Mirror reports.
