New Details On Fire That Displaces Family Of 5 In Milford
A firefighter was also injured while battling the blaze.

MILFORD, CT — A family of five in Milford has been displaced after a fire caused significant damage to their house. A firefighter was also injured battling the blaze.
At 5 p.m. Wednesday, Milford Fire Dispatch received a 911 call reporting a fire in an occupied single family residence located at 295 Old Point Road. The caller reported smoke coming from the lower level of the single family raised ranch located in the Devon section of Milford.
First arriving units quickly arrived and saw a large volume of smoke inside the home.

"Multiple hose lines were deployed in an effort to suppress the blaze. Fire crews battled heat exhaustion due to extreme temperatures and humidity levels during an active thunderstorm. The fire brought under control in approximately 40 minutes. Mutual aid units from West Haven Fire department provided coverage to the City of Milford during the incident," said Battalion Chief Anthony Fabrizi.
The family of five managed to exit the home safely before calling 911. A representative from the Milford Red Cross arrived on scene to assist the displaced family. A firefighter was injured while fighting the fire and was transported by paramedics to Bridgeport Hospital’s Milford campus for evaluation. The Milford Fire Marshal’s Division was on scene to investigate but has not released a cause of the blaze.
