New Details On Massive New Sports Bar In Milford
The grand opening is "coming soon," the owners say.
MILFORD, CT — Last month word surfaced that the former Tilted Kilt site at 290 Old Gate Lane would be turned into a "huge sports bar." And now comes some new details about the new restaurant/sports bar venture.
The name will be "Milford Sports Pub and Grill" and it will "strive to be the premier sports hang out in the area! We have an incredible food and beverage program in the making!" There will be 40 large screen TVs to watch and root on your favorite sports teams. The news was shared on their social media page.
The owners say the sports bar will be "coming soon," which prompted a lot of comments of support but some concerns too from local residents. The concerns centered on the less than ideal location and the fact that the Tilted Kilt and Bennington's, the two restaurants that occupied the site prior, went out of business.

But the owners wrote back saying "Milford Sports Pub & Grill ... we expect to overcome the odds, we look forward to your feedback!"
Greg Pettinella, who is the owner of the Retro Grub And Pub in Derby, confirmed to Patch last month that he will be helping to open the new sports bar at the former Tilted Kilt site at 290 Old Gate Lane.

The Tilted Kilt property has been vacant for the past several years. The sports bar and restaurant closed its doors in Milford on November 17, 2014 after operating for roughly a year. The owners had planned in 2015 to resurrect the Tilted Kilt but it never happened.
Pettinella is the owner of Retro Grub And Pub at 87 Elizabeth Street, which has stellar reviews from patrons. "Great food! The staff is very attentive and knowledgeable. Highly recommend checking it out!" one reviewer said. He is not new to the restaurant business as he's helped to open Hard Rock Cafe's, Cheesecake Factory's and dozens of other places.
