New Problem Gambling Treatment Option Opens in Middletown
March is Problem Gambling Awareness Month

Every March, CommuniCare and agencies across Connecticut host events designed to educate and raise awareness about the issue of problem gambling and promote resources for those effected as part of Problem Gambling Awareness Month.
On Thursday, March 20, 2025 from 10am – 12pm, CommuniCare will be hosting a free event at its new Bettor Choice clinic at 27 Washington Street, Middletown where it will be offering information and resources on problem gambling, including performances from Artreach: Beyond the Bet to highlight the impact of problem gambling.
Problem gambling impacts millions of people in the United States and can have serious consequences for individuals, families and communities. According to the National Council for Problem Gambling approximately 2 million adults in the US are estimated to meet the criteria for pathological gambling, while another 4-6 million adults are considered to have mild or moderate gambling problems; that is, they do not meet the full diagnostic criteria for gambling addiction but meet one or more of the criteria and are experiencing problems due to their gambling behavior. On average, each person affected by gambling addiction impacts an additional seven to twenty people in their families and communities.
