Obituary: Marie Apuzzo Zyde, 87, Of West Haven
She worked as a registered nurse at the Hospital of Saint Raphael and later worked part-time as a School Nurse in West Haven Public Schools.

WEST HAVEN, CT — Marie Apuzzo Zyde, age 87, of West Haven, beloved wife of the late John Roger Zyde entered peaceful rest on February 11, 2024.
She was born on May 3, 1936 in New Haven and was the daughter of the late Louis Apuzzo, Sr. and Anna (DePino) Apuzzo. Marie graduated from Saint Raphael, School of Nursing in New Haven. She worked as a registered nurse at the Hospital of Saint Raphael and later worked part time as a School Nurse in West Haven Public Schools. She loved spending her winters in Oak Grove Park in Englewood, Florida.

Marie was an active member at the Orange Senior Center, and an avid Scrabble, Pinochle and Cribbage player and an avid reader and enjoyed camping. She enjoyed square dancing with Button and Bows along with her husband. She loved doing all kinds of craft projects, including quilting, and sewing. But most of all she loved caring for her family and taking walks on the beach.
Marie is survived by her three devoted daughters, Robyn (Stephen) Staurovsky, Patty (Gary) Gallipoli, and Barbie (David) Chase, grandchildren, Stephen (Crystal) Staurovsky and Nicholas Staurovsky, David (Elissa) Matrisciano, John (Madison) Matrisciano, Jennifer Kelleher and Jacob Kelleher and Troy Gallipoli and two great grandchildren, Logan and Amelea Staurovsky. She also leaves her son in law, David Matrisciano, four siblings, Martha Uhlan, Josephine Cebula, Andrew (Jean) Apuzzo and Barbara McCarthy and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors. She was predeceased by her daughter, Marisa Matrisciano, and her siblings, Louis Apuzzo, Jr. and Anna Manganella.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 28th at 12 noon at Saint John Vianney Church (Saint John XXIII Catholic Parish) 300 Captain Thomas Blvd, West Haven. Family and friends may greet the family from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. prior to mass. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, West Haven. Memorial contributions may be made in Marie’s name to Fidelco Guide Dogs (Bloomfield,CT) or Saint Jude's Children's Hospital
