Obituary: Sarah Longo Hill, 94, of Milford

Sarah was also involved with the Milford Senior Center, Tatta's Tappers, and the Milford Senior 3M's Choral Group.

Sarah Longo Hill, 94, beloved wife of 36 years to John E. Hill, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on January 27, 2017. Born on May 24, 1922 in Norwich, CT, she was the daughter of the late Mary and Anthony Longo.

Sarah retired from Stop & Shop in 1984 after working there for 20 years. She and John loved to travel, cruise, and camp. Sarah visited all 50 states as well as Africa Europe, and South America. She was an active member for the American Legion Post 196: Woman’s Auxiliary. Sarah was also involved with the Milford Senior Center, Tatta’s Tappers, and the Milford Senior 3M’s Choral Group.

Together, she and John performed in numerous shows with many friends over the years.Sarah was an excellent cook and baker. She made the best spaghetti and meatballs. Shopping and sewing with her daughter were some of her favorite activities, as well as the occasional trip to the casino. Spending time with family and friends meant a lot to her.

Besides her loving husband, Sarah leaves behind her children, Rodney Swett, Jo-Ann (Ed) Lister-Eamiello, Scott (Jo-Ann) Swett, Sr., and John (Rita) Hill, Jr.; grandchildren, Steven (Summer), Scott,(Jaime) Jr., Matthew (Erin), and Christina; and great-grandchildren, Tanner, Chase, Sean Cooper, Logan, Ava, and Abigail. She was predeceased by her former husband, Raymond Swett; her brothers, Joseph and Anthony Longo; sister-in-law, Helen Humphries; and step-son, Richard Hill.

John and Sarah’s Family would like to thank all of their wonderful friends who have helped in the past year, especially the staff at Seacrest Retirement, West River Rehab, and Milford Hospital.

Doing without asking for anything in return.A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday February 2, 2017, at 11:00a.m. at Saint Ann Church, 501 Naugatuck Avenue, Milford, CT 06460 (MEET DIRECTLY AT CHURCH).

Interment to follow at Kings Highway Cemetery, 271 Cherry Street, Milford, CT 06460. Friends and family may call from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at the Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad Street, Milford, CT 06460. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Milford Senior Center, 9 Jepson Dr, Milford, CT 06460.
