Reductions to Milford School Budget Request Draws Concerns
A public hearing was held this week on the proposed city and school budgets.

MILFORD, CT — Milford residents have likely heard and are happy that taxes are not scheduled to increase next year, which would be the third year in a row that the tax rate has either stayed the same or gone down slightly.
But some folks want adjustments made to the Board of Finance approved budget, $210.19 million spending plan, which increases spending by 2.14 percent, according to the Milford Mirror. The average taxpayer would see a savings of $11.
However, at a hearing held recently, several people urged the Board of Aldermen to reinstate a $361,500 reduction to the Board of Education budget. The $361,500 has been targeted for important building projects, officials have said. Also some of the funds could be used to fund an extra School Resource Officer, speakers said, according to the Mirror.
