MILFORD, CT — Once again police are urging residents to keep their vehicles locked at all times.

"This week in Milford several vehicles with the keys inside were stolen and numerous unlocked vehicles were entered and had items stolen," Milford police said in a statement. "We have received feedback from residents and we know you are concerned. We have officers checking for these offenses every night but we can’t be everywhere at once. We ask that if you see or hear anything suspicious you contact us right away."

"From the Stratford to the West Haven to the Orange town line, there is no area of Milford that has not been victimized by vehicle thefts or thefts from vehicles. It’s happening in your neighborhood! Several arrests have been made but we need your help to prevent these types of crimes from happening in the future," police said.

"Vehicle thefts and thefts from vehicles are often crimes of opportunity. If car thieves repeatedly come to Milford and find cars unlocked with keys in them, they will continue to come to Milford to commit this type of crime," police added.

Milford police said the best way to protect your vehicle is to ensure it is locked and remove all keys and valuables too.
