Severe Weather Expected To Impact PM Commute Today: CT Weather
A top Connecticut meteorologist says that the expected fast-moving storms may "bring traffic to a crawl..." this evening.

CONNECTICUT — The evening commute home from work will not be a pleasant one today for Connecticut residents. Strong thunderstorms, wind gusts and heavy rain are expected after 4 p.m. and one top meteorologist says that these kind of storms "brings traffic to a crawl with flash flooding."
WTNH News 8 Meteorologist Gil Simmons says, "Dry weather through the middle of the day today with temperatures mostly in the 60s. If the sun breaks out we will see temps a little bit warmer into the low 70s. Do not forget your rain gear and heavy duty umbrella! I expect very heavy rain and some strong thunderstorms 4 PM – 8 PM! A slow evening commute! The same deal for tomorrow! Sunshine and nice weather on Friday."
[5/29/2019 730 am] Strong to severe thunderstorms are possible once again this afternoon into the evening. Damaging winds (58 mph or greater) and/or hail (greater than 1" in diameter). Please stay tuned and monitor the forecast throughout the day: https://t.co/w0u4xbr9wd pic.twitter.com/afyAZozPlW

Good morning! I am expecting a very slow PM commute for our local area later today! Very heavy rain and T-storms coming in fast 4-7PM. The kind of rain that brings traffic to a crawl with flash flooding. Do not forget your rain gear! Please share & thank you! #WTNHweather @WTNH pic.twitter.com/Hen57hZ0zM

After severe storms rolled through PA and the Mid Atlantic yesterday, a very similar area has a chance for more storms today. Connecticut could get a leftover strong storm (just like yesterday) but not a widespread chance. pic.twitter.com/ud85q4aMpJ

Heavy rain, vivid lightning, and damaging winds all possible today. Be weather aware from 4:00 PM to 11:00 PM. #FirstAlertCT pic.twitter.com/w5SV5OsYsP
