Signs Protesting Milford Marijuana Dispensary Stolen, Neighbors Pelted with Eggs
A group of residents are concerned about the planned medical marijuana dispensary in their residential neighborhood.

MILFORD, CT - A group of concerned residents pulled their money together to purchase 16 signs showing their deep opposition to a planned medical marijuana dispensary in their West River Street neighborhood.
But the signs were stolen last week, a resident tells Milford Patch.
“We put up signs on our lawns that read, "Relocate Marijuana Dispensary from 255 West River St." That afternoon some neighbors standing outside on Pascip Street were pelted with eggs by young men in a car. Fortunately, no one was hurt. This morning (Saturday) we awoke to find that every single sign on West River and Pascip was stolen. The police were alerted and will keep a closer eye on things,” the West River Street resident told Patch.

In a WTNH News 8 report on the theft of the signs, local resident John Szewczul said, “There’s kids playing on the sidewalk, there’s people walking their dog and everybody’s getting together because we’re not against this we just feel strongly that this is not the right place for this.”
As news has circulated that Milford was approved for two medical marijuana dispensary facilities at 318 New Haven Avenue and 255 West River Street, residents are expressing concern, especially those on West River Street.

The proposal for West River Street is smack in the middle of a residential neighborhood and residents are expressing safety concerns and whether this is an appropriate place as children live nearby.
Mayor Benjamin G. Blake told WTNH News 8 recently that he is contacting the state and believes the dispensary should be in a more commercial area and “removed” from a residential neighborhood.
