Snow, Ice And Rain Tonight, Early Thursday In Southern CT
Southern Connecticut is looking at a mess of precipitation late tonight and Thursday. Here are new details and timing of the precipitation.

SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT — It appears after midnight the entire area may see a burst of snow before the precipitation changes to plain rain Thursday morning. Inland sections of southern Connecticut may see minor accumulation which may impact Thursday's commute.
Coastal areas aren't expected to see any accumulation and if there is any snow or a wintry mix here it will quickly change to plain rain in time for the morning commute.
The National Weather Service says, "A storm system will approach from the Gulf States during tonight as moisture spreads quickly into the area this evening. Mainly rain is expected along the coast tonight, but may begin as a brief mix of wet snow, sleet, and rain. Further inland the precipitation is expected to begin as a wintry mix and wet snow. Across far northern and northwestern sections there will be a light snow and sleet accumulation before the changeover to rain during the overnight. Temperatures will rise through the 30s, and into the lower 40s along the coast Thursday morning."

"Rain is expected during the first half of Thursday, before ending during the late morning and early afternoon. Drier air will begin to move in on a west wind as temperatures will average 8 to 10
degrees above normal. A cold front will approach Thursday evening and bring much colder air behind it for late Thursday night into Friday. This will lead to below normal temperatures for late in the week and into the start of the weekend."
NBC Connecticut Meteorologist Kaitlyn McGrath said, "A quick burst of snow after midnight will make way to a whole lot of rain for the Thursday morning drive. The snow will quickly wash away..."
