Connecticut Weather Forecast: Snowy Week Ahead
There are several storms scheduled to possibly impact the state next week, and we'll let you know how much snow to expect.

If you study the National Weather Service’s forecast for Connecticut for the upcoming week and just counted how many times the word snow was mentioned, you’d run out to the grocery, purchase every loaf of bread you could find, several gallons of milk, and invest in chickens for eggs.
Snow and snow showers is literally mentioned as a possibility late Sunday, Monday, Monday night, Tuesday, Tuesday night, Wednesday, Wednesday night, and Thursday.
But if you dig deeper all of the snow chances appear now to be very minor, and once again, I think this is becoming a trend this winter, the further east you are (New London county) the more snow accumulation you’re likely to receive.
A “Hazardous Weather Outlook” is still in effect for Fairfield, New Haven, Middlesex, and New London counties for Monday through Wednesday.
Hartford and Tolland counties have no advisories concerning the snow chances, but communities there are still expecting to receive snow and snow showers Monday through Thursday.
The National Weather Service in a Sunday morning update says the following for Fairfield, New Haven, Middlesex, and New London counties:
Minor Storm 1: A light accumulating snow is possible for southern Connecticut late Sunday night, after midnight, most likely for the eastern portion of the state.
Minor Storm 2: A light accumulating snow is expected Monday for southern Connecticut, including Fairfield, New Haven, Middlesex, and New London counties. If the storm tracks closer to the coast then the entire state would see a moderate snowfall, but right now that is not expected.
Minor Storm 3 and 4: More light snow is possible Monday night into Tuesday and even more snow is possible Tuesday night into Wednesday.
So How Much Total Snow Can We Expect to Receive?
Clearly the forecast is still volatile, depending on the track each system takes, but as of right the National Weather Service is predicting possibly a couple of inches for Fairfield, New Haven, and Middlesex counties, and up to four inches in New London County.
Hartford and Tolland counties could receive a couple of inches of snow during the same period of time. Most of the light snow is forecast to fall on Monday, Monday night, and early Tuesday in northern Connecticut. Snow showers are possible during periods of Wednesday and Thursday.
Latest snow analysis and timeline from NBC Connecticut’s Darren Sweeney via his Facebook page:
Complex set up over the next couple of days: The breakdown looks like this: 2 storms will impact the area, but only fringe effects.
Storm # 1:
Some light snow develops around the time of the Monday AM commute. On/off light snow through the day. Minor accumulation possible.
Storm #2:
Brings in more light snow into Tuesday. More minor accumulation possible. This is all subject to change…
Sweeney and NBC Connecticut predicts up to 2 inches maximum for most of Connecticut and New London County could receive up to four inches by Tuesday evening.
No snow accumulations were posted for the snow showers and or very light snow that may fall on Wednesday and Thursday.
We’ll keep updating the forecast.
