SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT — It looks like we'll be contending with the chance for more storms on Tuesday.

The best chance for storms will be in the afternoon and evening hours, according to an update from the National Weather Service.

"With energy rotating through the trough (weather models) are indicating most of the showers and thunderstorms will be across Connecticut, and east of the frontal wave across Long Island," the weather service said.

WFSB 3 TV reported that after 10 a.m. Tuesday, thunderstorms may "pop up." "At this time, severe weather is not expected, but these developing storms may produce heavy downpours and frequent lightning. It will be the kind of situation where some towns will stay totally dry, and others will get a quick soaking. It will remain on the humid side today too." (Watch the WFSB 3 weather video here).

Accuweather.com noted that while far eastern portions of Connecticut are in the "midst of extreme drought conditions," the recent downpours Monday and early Tuesday could also cause flooding concerns.

"Downpours and droughts often don't mix well together," AccuWeather Meteorologist Adam Sadvary cautioned. "Localized flooding issues are likely to arise within some of these pockets of downpours....

"While this rain is much-needed, the dry ground will struggle to absorb an increase of water of this magnitude," Sadvary said.

Once the storm chance ends late Tuesday, dry weather takes over for Wednesday and Thursday and there is a chance for more stormy weather on Friday afternoon, according to the weather service.
