SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT — The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook and wind advisory for coastal sections of New Haven County and for all of Middlesex and New London counties due to the expected impacts the remnants of former Tropical Storm Nicole will have on the area.

The wind advisory is in effect from 10 p.m. Friday, until 10 a.m. Saturday.

"South winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph expected," the weather service said. "Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result."

Accuweather.com says light rain and drizzle will begin in New York City during the morning and midday hours on Friday and then move into Connecticut later in the afternoon and evening hours.

"The first torrential downpours and strong wind gusts with locally severe thunderstorms are likely to begin during the afternoon rush hour on Friday around New York City," AccuWeather Meteorologist Dean DeVore said. "This threat, which includes the chance of a tornado in a few locations, is likely to continue after dark. Wind gusts strong enough to knock over trees and trigger sporadic power outages may continue through Friday night."
