The National Weather Service has issued a special weather statement for all of southern Connecticut.

"Spotty light snow and freezing drizzle may develop ahead of an approaching warm front late tonight into Tuesday morning. Travelers are advised to check the latest forecast and road conditions before heading out late tonight into Tuesday morning. Use caution and be prepared for potentially icy sidewalks, roads, overpasses and bridges during the early Tuesday morning commute," the weather service said in its special weather statement.

Tonight: A slight chance of snow and freezing rain after 4am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 26. Calm wind. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Tuesday: A slight chance of snow and freezing rain before 10am. Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 44. Calm wind becoming south around 6 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Tuesday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 30. Calm wind.

Wednesday: Freezing rain likely, possibly mixed with sleet before 10am, then rain. High near 39. Light and variable wind. Chance of precipitation is 90%. Little or no ice accumulation expected. Little or no sleet accumulation expected.

Wednesday Night: Rain, snow, and sleet likely before 1am, then a slight chance of snow. Cloudy, with a low around 31. Calm wind becoming north around 6 mph in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New snow and sleet accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
