Special Weather Statement Issued For Southern CT, Multiple Crashes Reported

The light snow and ice have moved on, but it left slippery road conditions out there, which has led numerous school districts around Connecticut to either issue a delayed opening or closure.

The National Weather Service has issued a special weather statement for southern Connecticut stating, "Precipitation has moved out of the area. However, many areas continue to see surface temperatures at or slightly below freezing. The residual moisture from the precipitation combined with the cold surface temperatures will result in slick and/or icy surfaces. Motorists are urged to slow down and travel with caution this morning."

The remainder of the week looks tranquil with sunny skies and temperatures slightly above the freezing mark. On Wednesday, we should hit 40 degrees, but it will be chillier on Thursday and Friday before we warm back up to around 40 degrees on Saturday and Sunday.

Coastal storm imacts?

The next question centers on a potential coastal storm and whether it will move close enough to Connecticut to bring us snow and or mixed precipitation and even possibly rain.

As of now, computer models disagree on the impacts we may see.

WTNH News 8 said that on Sunday we may see "snow & wind possible at night!" Additionally, on President's Day "AM snow & wind possible..." (Read more at News 8).

As of now, the National Weather Service says there is a 30 percent chance of snow on Sunday night and Monday morning.
