Police say the driver had an active arrest warrant.

MILFORD, CT — A traffic stop led to a drug bust Friday in Milford, according to police. The Milford Police TAC Unit was on an “anti-crime patrol” in the area of Old Gate Lane when officers saw a traffic violation and initiated the stop, police said.

Police found that the driver, identified as 27-year-old Francisco Soares of Derby, had a suspended license and an active warrant for his arrest. Soares was also found to be in possession of a “quantity of narcotics” and was taken into custody without incident, police said.

Soares was arrested and charged with possession of narcotics, possession of narcotics with intent to sell, operating under suspension, failure to obey traffic signal and second-degree failure to appear. He was released on a $1,500 bond and scheduled to appear in court on March 3.
