Trumbull Woman, Massachusetts Man Sustain Serious Injuries in Milford Crash

State Police had originally said the Milford accident was a fatal one on Monday, but they admitted that was a mistake on Tuesday.

Update: State Police admitted they got it wrong on Monday when they said an accident that occurred around 1:30 a.m near Exit 39 A on the southbound side of Interstate 95 was a fatal one, the Connecticut Post reports.

State Police spokesman Lt. Paul Vance said Tuesday serious injuries were sustained in the Milford accident, but State Police initially confused it with a fatal accident that occurred on I-95 in Branford on Sunday. Read that story here.

A Trumbull woman, Brittany Erickson, 26, of Flint Street, was travelling north in the southbound lane against oncoming traffic when her car collided with a Massachusetts man’s vehicle.

Both Erickson and the Massachusetts man were treated for serious injuries sustained in the accident. Erickson is facing enforcement action, the Post reports.

Original post: State Police spokesman Lt. Paul Vance says there was a fatal accident early Monday morning in Milford near Exit 39A on the southbound side of Interstate 95, the Connecticut Post reports.

Vance tells the Post it’s unclear if weather was an issue in the accident. The victim’s identity has not yet been released.

Interstate 95 southbound, near the accident site was shut down around 1:20 a.m. because of the accident.

The highway reopened around 5:30, the Mirror reports.
