Two Charged With DUI In Milford Over Memorial Day Weekend: PD

Two people were charged with DUI over the holiday weekend.

MILFORD, CT — Milford police charged two people with DUI over the holiday weekend. A dirt bike rider was charged after doing wheelies near Gulf Beach as well.

Ranger Rover crashes into telephone poles

A 34-year-old Milford man was charged with operating under the influence and failure to drive right after crashing in the area of Pepe's Farm Road Sunday. A number of people called police around 10:45 p.m. to report that a Range Rover crashed into three telephone poles and the operator fled on foot.

The operator was later found by officers. The Range Rover had severe damage and identification in the vehicle matched the man, police said. The operator had no injuries, but was slurring his words, staggering in stance and had an alcoholic odor on his breath, according to police.


Driver passed out behind wheel

A 21-year-old Milford man was found passed out behind the wheel of a Jeep Wrangler on Gulf Street around 2:50 a.m. Saturday. The vehicle was parked, but the engine was running and the driver side door was open. Officers needed to shake the man to wake him. He was charged with operating under the influence and bail was set at $500.


Dirt bike rider charged

An 18-year-old Milford man was seen doing wheelies in the area of Gulf Beach near a crowded area Sunday, police said.

An officer attempted to stop the rider at a gas station near New Haven Avenue and Gulf Street, but the operator sped off. The officer radioed a description to other officers in the area.

The dirt bike operator was stopped near West River Street and River Street because the street was blocked for the Memorial Day Parade; he was charged with operating an unregistered vehicle, operating without insurance, operating a motorcycle without an endorsement and unsafe movement from a start position. He was released on a promise to appear.
