Virginia "Ginny" Hope Pilla, 90, of Milford, passed away on June 14, 2023. She was born on February 26, 1933 in Washington DC, was raised in New Jersey, Montana and Pelham NY where she met her husband Patrick. Ginny and Pat raised their 4 children, Janice, Patricia, Daniel and Deborah in Scarsdale NY and retired to Milford CT in 1993.
Ginny’s was an active member of DAR, Colonial Dames, the Milford Literacy Foundation and Milford Garden club. Ginny attended Catherine Gibbs secretarial school and worked at NBC in NYC. She spoke of meeting stars like Elvis and Ed Sullivan, Gene Simmons and would watch the Ernie Kovacs Show. Ginny was a Realtor in Scarsdale NY, worked as a secretary at the Scarsdale Alternative High school.
Ginny sang in the folk mass at St. Pius X Church in Scarsdale NY and appeared on the game show Make a Face winning a week long streak and prizes. Ginny made a professional recorded album and did the NY times crossword puzzle in ink!
Ginny was preceded by her husband, Patrick; her daughter, Mary; her sister, Jane; and her parents, Gerald & Vera Martin and Miriam Skogestad.
She leaves behind her daughter Janice Pilla Civitello and Frank Civitello of Milford CT, Patricia Pilla Richards of Orange CT and Daniel Pilla of NY, Deborah Pilla (David) Vopli of NY, Her 6 grandchildren Kristen (Matthew) Porac, Sarah Warecke (Ben Green), Douglas(Kiki) Richards, Amanda Richards, Alexander (Johanna) Volpi, Maximilian Volpi, 2 Step-Grandchildren, Frank and Jake Civitello,, and 4 great grandchildren; Oliver (Jasmine) Green, Maxwell, Madison & Myles Porac. Siblings John Martin CA, Barbara Ann Martin RI and David Martin AZ.
Ginny loved the beach and her her dogs and cat that will now greet her over the rainbow bridge. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to JDRF or a charity of your choice, in memory of Ginny.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Saturday, June 17, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with a Memorial Service to begin at 12:30 p.m. at the Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad
