Wipes Clogging Milford's Sewer System, Costing Taxpayers Money: Report
An in-depth report examines why flushing wipes has become a huge deal for the city's sanitation department.

MILFORD, CT - Milford sanitation officials are trying to spread the word that “wipes” aren’t met to be flushed and it ends up wasting city employees hours to fix and also costs taxpayers additional money too, the Milford Mirror reports.
City officials say “wipes” which are used to remove makeup and to often tidy up after changing a baby are being flushed by residents, which is causing severe clogs to the city’s sewer system.
Often the wipes or cloth rags or moist towelettes need to be vacuumed out or even hand removed by sanitation employees. Sometimes the city has to pay to have the pumps taken apart and repaired.
