A 10-minute massage
Getting my nails done is great, but I prefer the chair massage I receive while they're drying!
When I want to take a break and I don’t have a lot of time to indulge myself, I get a manicure. However, I am less concerned about how my nails look after they’re all clipped, filed and polished. My favorite part of the manicure is the neck and upper back massage that I receive while I am waiting for my finger nails to dry.
Many nail salons in Monroe offer 10 minute massages whenever anyone purchases a manicure or pedicure. Different young women and men are specifically hired to knead, caress and, in some cases, pummel the back and relieve the tension that’s been wedged tightly throughout those muscles. Slowly but surely, the stress of every day life dissipates.
At , located in the Big Y Shopping Center, on Monroe Turnpike, I practically fall asleep as Lucy begins by gently massages the back of my neck. As her nimble fingers work their way down my back, my upper body falls forward as a deep sigh is emitted. I can feel the tension easing out of me.

Sometimes Lucy places a hot towel on my back as she applies pressure. Breathing in and out, I relax even further. Lucy deftly clips my shoulder length hair on top of my head so she could work her way from the base of my neck to the top of my head. Massaging my scalp, Lucy also briefly touches acupressure points on either side of my face.
When my massage is over, I feel satiated. All is once again right in the world and I am ready to return to work, my family, and chores, whatever. I am in “the zone.” You know that place of deep relaxation where nothing could trouble me. I walk out with, yes, beautiful nails but, more importantly, I feel calm and peaceful.

I know that you could also purchase a massage alone at Finger Nail and most other nail spas in the area. I have seen people come in and get thirty minute chair massages. There are also some pedicure specials that include intense reflexology massages.
Someday I’m going to treat myself to one of these special, longer massages. Without a doubt, this is my favorite way to spoil myself. Stop in sometime to see Lucy or one of the other talented masseuses working and get yourself de-stressed.
