MONROE, CT — The Monroe Volunteer Fire Department, No.1 Inc. said the Aldi's in town is temporarily closed after a car drove into the business.
At 3 p.m. Saturday, first responders were called for a vehicle that drove into the Aldi market on Monroe Turnpike, fire officials said.
"Fortunately there were no injuries but the building sustained significant damage and is currently closed to customers until it can be assessed by structural engineers," officials said.
Firefighters addressed the utilities and other hazards and helped secure the scene. Multiple agencies were on the scene for approximately 90 minutes, including Monroe FD, PD, EMS, and Fire Marshal, Trumbull Building Dept., Monroe Health Dept., Monroe First Selectman, and a tow operator.
