So, let me tell you a little more about this year’s Winter Wine Festival. The Best Buy Theatre will be transformed into a winter wine wonderland! There will be over 200 different wines from all over the world. But the wines I’m interested in are the local ones! This is a great opportunity to taste test all of your local wines and see which you enjoy most, instead of buying a different bottle each time you go to the store; although that’s not so bad either.
This festival will have food, but only hors d’oevres, cheeses and breads to clear your palate between tastings, so be sure to eat something of substance beforehand. Vermont’s own CABOT Cheese Company will be passed around for people to try and they are also sponsors for this year’s event. There will be Wine Classes with an upgrade to your ticket, of course, for an additional $25.00. This is an exclusive tasting of special wines led by a knowledgeable wine connoisseur. Then last but not least, as I mentioned in the beginning, there will be music from Jeff Golub, who is a world-renowned contemporary jazz guitarist. With 6 solo albums plus 3 as leader of the instrumental band “Avenue Blue,” Jeff has also been a sideman to several top rock/pop artists, appearing on numerous albums and tours with Billy Squier, as well as spending many years recording and touring with Rod Stewart. Additionally, he appeared on the Grammy- nominated “Joined At The Hip” with Bob James and Kirk Whalum. Losing his vision in recent years has not slowed the gifted artist down and Wine Fest attendees can catch Jeff’s performance in the final hour of each session (5-6pm / 10-11pm)! Listen to Jeff’s music. Click here to listen to Jeff’s music.
What more can you ask for – wine, cheese and jazz. Sounds like a great time out. If you go be sure to pay attention to which wine’s are made locally in New York, Connecticut, Maine, Delaware, Vermont and any other neighboring states as well as from the West Coast. Hey, that’s still in the US, so the support is staying local in this country, which is a good thing to me.
I know that wine from the Finger Lakes Region of Upstate NY will be showcasing their products as well as Barefoot Wines from California, Brotherhood Wines from Washingtonville, NY and The Naked Grape from California. For the event’s full list of wine attendee’s, you can click here - Winter Wine List Attending. It’s a very extensive list.
Whoever goes to this event, I’m sure will have a great time. You’ll be supporting a local event as well as many of our own local wine businesses and foods. I’ll have to miss it this year, because it’s my husband’s birthday and we already have plans, but have a glass of wine for me!
Don’t forget about NY’s Finger Lake’s Wine Fest coming up in July as well as Hudson Valley Wine & Food Fest in September! Enoy!
