Awareness Campaign Launched for Educational Excellence

Connecticut Association for the Gifted has launched an awareness campaign to share our goal of quality education for gifted and all students

Connecticut Association for the Gifted (CAG) launches its first public awareness campaign to reach Fairfield County parents

Norwalk, CT: The Connecticut Association for the Gifted (CAG) announced today that they have launched their first-ever media campaign to boost public awareness of gifted and high-potential children in all socio-economic, cultural, and racial groups. The “We Are CAG” campaign is aimed at parents of children in Kindergarten through 8th grade in Fairfield County, CT, and funded by a grant from Fairfield County’s Community Foundation.

The 15-second commercials ask if parents think their child might be gifted, offering that “children can be gifted in many ways.” They explain that CAG has the resources “to help your children reach their full potential,” and then encourages viewers to visit their website at Ctgifted.org.

“We want parents to know that they are not alone and that CAG is a valuable asset for their use,” said CAG Board President John Pellino. “With all the challenges that we face as a society, we can’t afford to neglect our highest potential students,” he said. “

There are lots of parents who don’t know about CAG or giftedness. They realize that there is a disconnect between the highly curious, engaged child they see at home, and the student who is not engaged at school, but they don’t know what to do. Our goal is to help parents get the support and services their children need. CAG wants Fairfield County – and all Connecticut – residents to know that we are here to help.”

The multi-media campaign is airing during the month of January on Norwalk Cablevision: News 12, Home & Garden Television and the Oprah Winfrey Network, enabling the CAG message to reach parents in both served and underserved local communities. CAG is also using the power of social media advertising to connect with Fairfield County parents who are on Facebook and have children in Kindergarten through 8th grade.

The “We are CAG” campaign was created by local producer/editor Joelle Schon, operating out of Westport, CT. The two 15 second ads will run through January 31, 2015, and are currently being adapted to run as Public Service Announcements.

The commercials can also be viewed at the organization’s website www.ctgifted.org and their YouTube Channel.
