The Monroe Police Department will host a trick or trunk fundraiser benefiting Special Olympics Connecticut on Saturday, Oct. 17 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Fireman’s Field in Monroe. Community members interested in the car show are welcome to bring their car with a bowl of candy for a $20 donation.
During the event, community members and families are invited to participate in the trick or trunk event by wearing a Halloween costume, purchasing raffle tickets, and visiting each of the cars. Law enforcement will be collecting donations from cars and community members at the event to help raise funds that provide year-round opportunities for Special Olympics athletes. The money raised through the event helps fund programs that directly benefit athletes, including sports training and competition, equipment, coaching, and tournaments.
The impact of donations extends beyond the playing field. Fundraising supports Healthy Athletes programs that provide free health screenings and education, fitness and wellness initiatives, athlete leadership opportunities, and Unified Sports, which bring athletes with and without intellectual disabilities together as teammates.
Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Connecticut fundraisers provide law enforcement with an opportunity to strengthen its connection with the community while continuing to inspire inclusion for people of all abilities. All donations received will be dedicated to helping Special Olympics Connecticut provide life-changing sports, health, and fitness programs to athletes of all abilities.
