Decision is Final: Stevenson Post Office in Monroe Will Close Tuesday, Sept. 30

Services at the Stevenson Post Office, located at 281 Cottage Street, will end at the end of business on Tuesday, Sept. 30 due to the expiration of the lease. Post office officials are searching for a new location in Stevenson and are making an attempt to keep services in the Stevenson community.

P.O. Box customers will be able to pick up their mail at a Mobile Post Office which will be located at 244 Roosevelt Street in Monroe. Services at the Mobile Post Office will be available, from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. and from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 8 a.m. to 12 noon on Saturday. Customers may drop their outgoing mail off at the Mobile Post Office during its business hours.

Services are also available at the Monroe Post Office, located at 270 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe. Window service hours at Monroe Post Office are 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. from Monday through Friday and 8:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Saturday.

For certified letters, customers will need to go to the mobile unit located at 244 Roosevelt Ave, Monroe. Stevenson customers will continue to use their current Stevenson, CT 06491 address.

The closure comes after the landlord informed the Postal Service that he does not wish to renew the lease. The Postal Service is working to find a suitable location for the Stevenson Post Office and will provide updates as the project progresses.
