Doing Business During a Blackout

Monroe has had its share of blackouts. Time for more businesses to have a back up plan.

Monroe had its share of blackouts last year, and the town's commercial sector was hit hardest by Tropical Storm Irene. Retail businesses went days without sales and restaurants also had to deal with spoiling food.

As the region awaits the first major winter storm, maybe it's time for businesses to come up with a backup plan.

That will be the topic at the Monroe and Newtown chambers of commerce joint luncheon scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 12. It will be held at The Inn at Newtown, 19 Main St., Newtown, from noon to 1:30 p.m. (the snow date is Jan. 19).
