Fentanyl-Laced Marijuana Made Man Unresponsive: Monroe PD

The man survived the ordeal after smoking near the entrance to Webb Mountain Park.

MONROE, CT — Fentanyl-laced marijuana caused a man to become unresponsive near Webb Mountain Park on Friday, according to police.

Police got a call of an unresponsive man in a car outside of the park, but arrived to find him breathing and responsive, according to the Monroe Sun. He was taken to the hospital for further evaluation.

Fentanyl is a powerful synthetic opioid that is involved in a growing number of fatal overdoses in Connecticut and elsewhere in the country. Fentanyl was involved in only four percent of fatal Connecticut overdoses in 2012, but was found in 82 percent of all 2019 cases, according to data released by the Office of the State Medical Examiner.
