Chief William Davin was first on the scene, reporting heavy flames from the second floor of the house and a partial roof collapse. Davin said the snow and ice and the length of the driveway hampered operations, but firefighters did a terrific job containing the fire and none were injured. Residents of the neighborhood quickly began to dig out two nearby fire hydrants as fire trucks arrived on scene.
Crews from neighboring towns covered the fire stations while Monroe firefighters battled the fire.
