Fishing is only allowed in designated areas, and officials emphasize that the reservoirs are part of the region’s public water supply, meaning strict rules are in place.

Boating, swimming and wading are not permitted, and anglers must fish from the shoreline or designated docks.

Residents are also reminded to properly dispose of trash and avoid introducing any materials into the water, as part of efforts to protect water quality.

In addition to Monroe, Aquarion’s program includes fishing access at two other reservoirs in southwestern Connecticut, though no other company reservoirs are open to fishing.

Permits can be purchased at several locations, including the Monroe Town Clerk’s office.
