Hear Our Voice CT urges you to vote on Nov 7
Voting in municipal elections is very important and we must elect officials that put their constituencies first.

We urge you to vote in the municipal elections on November 7. Traditionally, turnout for these elections is less than 20%. Less than 10% of registered millennials participate, as opposed to more than 40% of seniors. (Millennials take note – your grandparents are deciding your future!)
Those who think their votes won’t matter are wrong. Decisions made by town officials directly affect you. Make sure they share your values and vision for your town. There are some wonderful candidates. We hope you disregard their party affiliations and vote instead for those you believe will put community first. Understand their platforms and insist on clarity in their positions. Ask them to do the hard work necessary to make decisions based on facts and constituency needs, not personal opinion, party loyalty or political ambition.
Since our last municipal election, our great nation has become overtly polarized and the national political discourse and negative rhetoric impact us all. Bridging this divide starts in the community with reps who not only know how to build bridges but also recognize that the strongest bridges are engineered using a mixture of metals. Partisan politics only weakens our ability to withstand the gusts of popular feeling that threaten the hard-won bonds between fellow Americans.

November 7, 2017 is the day we can send a message to all that regardless of party, if our elected reps aren’t part of an inclusive solution to bring us together, we will elect those who are. But in order to do so, in order to ensure that we are all represented, we all must vote.
