Jesus Statue Reported Missing in Monroe Returned on All Saints Day

The co-owner of Angels & Company says the statue was returned with a fresh coat of paint.

The five-foot color statue of Jesus that was reported missing by the owner of Angels & Company in Monroe has been returned, with a fresh coat of paint.

Linda Schirillo, co-owner of the store told Patch her friend drove by the store Sunday and saw the statue was back. Schirillo said she doesn’t know if the statue is the same or a totally new one.

“We were devastated so we were excited to get the phone call,” she said. “We were hoping for it.”

Schirillo said it was no coincidence that the call that the statue had been returned came on All Saints Day. The statue was gifted to the store six months ago by an elderly woman who was moving out of her home and didn’t know what to do with it.

The theft was originally reported Wednesday to Monroe police. Valued at $600, the statue was last seen the evening of Oct. 27.
