Man Charged with DUI After Stopping at Green Light in Monroe: Police

The incident occurred on Route 111.

A Stratford man was charged with a DUI on Saturday after police say he was operating on Route 111 in Monroe in an erratic manner.

According to police, the vehicle crossed over the center line several times and the operator stopped at a green traffic control signal at around 1:52 a.m.

Upon stopping the vehicle, the officer observed that the operator, Julio Pineda. 29 has blood shot eyes and slurred speech and had the smell of an alcoholic beverage on his breath, police said.

Pineda failed standardized field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest and charged with driving under the influence and failure to drive in the proper lane.

He was given a $500 bond and a court date of May 26.
