Monroe Theater Company Launches Inaugural Season
Two Planks Theater Company presents Tennessee Williams' Glass Menagerie on Oct. 9.

The vision for Monroe’s Two Planks Theater Company (TPTC) began decades ago in Bridgeport with a pair of young thespians, David and Susan Halliwell. The pair offered summer theater workshops to young actors and musicians on Pleasure Beach at Polka Dot Playhouse.
After joining with choreographer Judy Abbatiello, the program relocated to the University of Bridgeport. In 1998 they were invited to bring their program into the Monroe Public Schools’ Arts & Imagination Program. Each time they moved, their Monroe students followed.
In 2012 the group began to develop a year-round professional theater company under the leadership of Executive Director Brooke Burling. The troupe would relocate to Chalk Hill School until tragedy struck Sandy Hook. The Town of Monroe reallocated the Chalk Hill property to the students of Sandy Hook Elementary School students until their permanent school is built.

In the summer of 2014, TPTC brought live theater outdoors at Wolfe Park, in partnership with the Town of Monroe. Finally, in the fall of 2014, TPTC found a new home at the United Methodist Church of Monroe and launched their inaugural full season of shows for 2014-2015.
In two weeks, TPTC presents Tennessee Williams’ Glass Menagerie. The show is based upon the memories of the narrator, Tom Wingfield, an aspiring poet who works in a shoe warehouse to support his mother. The show opens on Oct. 9. Get your tickets today by clicking here.
