Monroe BOE Budget Deficit Grows Again

A growing deficit in special education fueled the latest overall increase.

MONROE, CT — The Monroe Public Schools district has several challenges ahead as it deals with a growing budget deficit amid two administrators being placed on leave.

The school system's budget deficit for the 2019-2020 school year grew after special education's deficit went from $300,000 to $550,000, according to the Monroe Sun. The deficit is also fueled by growing medical costs

Superintendent Dr. Jack Zamary and interim Finance Director Frank Connolly were placed on paid leave amid an investigation.
